Vilas County Recycling

Haz Was collection

The Vilas County Solid Waste & Hazardous Materials Committee is a five member committee that meets once per month and is the county’s “Responsible Unit” authority for recycling programs as designated by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. You can contact any of the committee members by calling the Vilas County UW-Extension office.

 Vilas County has no Solid Waste Department; recycling program assistance is provided to the committee by the UW Extension Community Development office, and waste disposal is provided by the Landfill Venture Group, a private organization that serves thirteen towns and the City of Eagle River in Vilas County. Vilas County also sponsors Clean Sweep hazardous waste collections in partnership with  Oneida County. Vilas County residents wanting to dispose of hazardous waste and recyclables can do so year ’round at the Oneida County Landfill on Highway C outside of Rhinelander.

Electronics Recycling Program for Vilas County Households

Contact your Town or City Clerk for a voucher that allows you to recycle up to 5 electronics items free at Eagle Waste in Eagle River or Veolia Solid Waste in Woodruff.

Pharmaceutical Recycling Drop-Off Site

Drop your expired/unwanted prescription and over the counter pills or liquids in their original containers with personal information removed.
